The Order of Venetus is an Ultima Online guild established in the player-ran shard Ultima Legacy. Previously, an NPC Guild of Air Mages, based on the philosophy of research and self-improvement, it was re-opened as an Academy of Magic to fullfill the absence of options for mage characters to be affiliated to an organization in which other players can participate.

Furthermore, it also welcomes players that do not wish strict ties to it by accepting partial memberships to researchers and students of the arcane lore.

Membership

-All players initiated on the guild will start as Novices, when they're recruited in the guildstone. They remain novices until they successfully accomplished the Trials of the Spirit.

-Novices: This level of membership is best suited for young players who wish to improve their skills on the field of Magery. Novices are taken under the wing of a master mage and instructed in the arcane path and guild charter, besides being submitted to magic practise on the training area and on the combat field.

-Acolytes: After being successful in the Trials of the Spirit, the member will receive the Robe of Air, the traditional garment of the Air Mages of the Order. They will continue to improve themselves in their study of magic along with new assignements in the daily life of the Order as well helping Master Mages to recruit new potential members. At this point they are expected to select a field of study, in which they will specialize in.

-Masters: To achieve full membership of the Order, the mage must reach the level of 70.0 in magery or alchemy. Upon this, they’re required to complete a new trial related to the field of study they chose while Acolytes. Master Mages become capable to instruct novices and acolytes and have a voice in the guild administration in periodic meetings.

Partial membership

-Researchers: This position does not require full membership. Researchers are affiliated to the Order in a manner in which they still must abide by its rules, but are not required to dedicate themselves completely, being still able to participate on other player or NPC organisations. While researchers may not be residents of the Order’s headquarters, they’re still allowed free access to the alchemy labs and library. Binding to the guildstone is optional.

Guild rules [IC]

-All members are bound to the laws of Lord British and Britannia.
-All members are required to study magic or alchemy.
-All members are requested to act on the benefit of the Britannian population, be it on defensive or instruction therms.
-All members are forbidden to act offensively torward each other.
-While representing the Order, all members are required to wear the robe of Air (in the case of Acolytes and Masters) or the head band of the Trials (for Novices).
-While not representing the Order, members are still required to follow a mature and respectable behaviour.

Guild rules [OOC]

-Player killing, stealing and looting are bannable offenses. There will be no forgiveness.

-It is forbidden to take anything from the Headquarters into your possession, unless the item in question is found in the appropriate storage container.

-It is forbidden to go OOC while representing the Order. Take it to ICQ or Mirc. If it is absolutely necessary, be as objective as you can and always use brackets beetween your sentences.

-Immature behaviour, involvement in the breaking of Legacy’s rules and starting flamewars on public boards and on the main IRC room are also offenses subjected to punishment and suspension.

-Members are required to be active (Play at least once a week). Shall a period of inactiveness happen, the guildmaster must be notified. After one month of inactiveness your possessions will be moved to a safe place (to be retrieved at request) and you'll be dismissed. If you are unable to give prior warning to a month of inactiveness, your admission back into the Guild will be negotiated upon your return.

-Members are asked to have ICQ installed on their computers.

4) Residence inside the Order of Venetus Headquarters offered with the rights to claim a locked container.
5) The general advantadges of being part of a guild, ie: Companions for adventures, hunts, general roleplaying, trading opportunities and aid in skill improvement.
